Dealing with Pain by
Bussayamas Nandawan

Sitting is the posture of Buddhist people.
“Dealing with Pain” reflects how the people handle the misery.
The sitting Lord Buddha image is the most important symbol.
Right livelihood was a part of Buddha’s Eight Path to enlightenment. The Eight Path is a formula for creating a life and the world of caring and compassion. It involves a system of cultivating mindfulness or awareness in everyday life. Now a lot of people and Bussayamas believe they had found the bridge between Buddhism and Urbanism. With majors in philosophy and environment, Nandawan found a well meaning idealistic, social and surrounding.
As an artist, Bussayamas want to merge her idea with her livelihood. She had spent years learning how to live a sustainable lifestyle, grow the trees, recycle paper, plastic and glass etc. In 2007 onward, she signed up for 10 days mediation courses. Since then she has put her researching, managing, fixing, sitting and systematizing many things. It had become mostly matter of “Survival” by that time. But life is unpredictable and could go up and down. So how does one maintain a “sense” of calmness? When the future is so uncertain. There is always the possibility or hope that this artwork will share a balance and experience with people who viewed this work.
